ISSCR and 100 Scientific Organizations Urge the Administration to Lift the Restrictions on Fetal Tissue Research

Skokie, IL – The ISSCR and 100 scientific and medical organizations united to impress upon the U.S. Administration to remove the restrictions on research using fetal tissue in order to allow crucial research into COVID-19 treatments and other diseases to move forward during this unprecedented global public health crisis.

“The exponential rate in which the coronavirus and COVID-19 is spreading throughout the world and in the United States is alarming,” said ISSCR President Deepak Srivastava. “The research community is exploring every possible avenue to address this pandemic but cannot do so with one hand tied around our backs. The ISSCR is pleased to lead this coalition effort with the scientific community to urge the Administration to lift the restrictions on using fetal tissue for COVID-19 and other devastating disease research and remove unwarranted barriers to discovering treatments during this pandemic.”
