The ISSCR Encourages Japanese Policymakers to Increase Oversight of Regenerative Medicine Interventions
Today, the ISSCR sent a letter to Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare encouraging the Ministry to implement regulations that adhere as closely as possible to international guidelines for the administration of regenerative medicine interventions.
In the letter, shared in response to amendments to the Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine (ASRM), the ISSCR commends Japan for taking steps to strengthen the ASRM to protect patient safety and offers recommendations citing this opportunity to strengthen Japan’s approach to regenerative medicine oversight.

The ISSCR Announces 2025 Award Recipients
The International Society of Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) recognizes stem cell scientists and leaders for their significant contributions to stem cell research and regenerative medicine and their momentous efforts on behalf of the field. Honorees will be recognized at the ISSCR 2025 Annual Meeting 11-14 June 2025 in Hong Kong.

Yonatan Stelzer Earns the 2025 ISSCR Outstanding Young Investigator Award
The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) is honoring Yonatan Stelzer, Ph.D. with the 2025 ISSCR Outstanding Young Investigator Award. Dr. Selzer is an associate professor in the Department of Molecular Cell Biology at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel.

Paola Arlotta Receives the 2025 ISSCR Momentum Award
The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) is honoring Paola Arlotta, Ph.D., with this year’s ISSCR Momentum Award. Dr. Arlotta is the Golub Family Professor of the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology at Harvard University and an Institute member at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. She will present her research during the ISSCR 2025 Annual Meeting in Hong Kong taking place 11-14 June 2025.

Gordon Keller Receives the 2025 ISSCR Achievement Award for his Seminal Work in Regenerative Medicine
The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) is honoring Gordon Keller, Ph.D., with this year’s ISSCR Achievement Award. Dr. Keller is the Director of the McEwen Stem Cell Institute at the University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, Canada. He will present his research at the ISSCR 2025 Annual Meeting taking place in Hong Kong 11-14 June 2025.
