Extensive Scientific Programming; Greater Member Access

Belated Happy New Year! We just opened registration for the ISSCR 2023 Annual Meeting in Boston this June, and Program Chair David Scaddan and I look forward to welcoming you to one of the largest biotechnology research cities in the world for an outstanding annual meeting program with many opportunities for abstract submitters to speak. Whether presenting new research in a scientific session or in the Poster Hall, networking at a career event or in the Exhibit Hall, or talking in Plenary and Concurrent sessions, the ISSCR Annual Meeting remains the preeminent venue for sharing advances in stem cell research and regenerative medicine with the international community.

While the annual meeting is the hallmark ISSCR event, the society continues to develop timely and topic-specific webinars to expand on compelling subjects such as equity and inclusion, organoids, venture capital, and standards to name a few. No matter where you are in the world, you have access to emerging science through ISSCR’s webinars – and can access programs later on demand through the ISSCR.digital platform. The fantastic lineup of webinars planned in 2023 is free to all ISSCR members. The tremendous value of access to upcoming webinar programs and the more than 60 scientific session available to ISSCR members is a fantastic benefit to becoming a member of the society.

As excited as I am about the annual meeting and all of the ISSCR’s scientific programming this year, I am equally delighted with the many ways the society supports the stem cell field and continues to innovate. The Standards initiative is one example, and we will hear more about this progress in the 17 January webinar where attendees are invited to ask questions and share feedback on draft recommendations. We continue to see downloads of the free Stem Cell Biology Syllabus every day and it will be the basis of a course for students in Brazil, the São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Stem Cell Biology 2023. This course will take place in September and conclude with an international symposium From Concept to Clinic: Advances in Stem Cell Research. Students from the region and globally are invited to apply for this course by 28 February. These are just two examples of ISSCR’s continued service to the field and why your membership matters and your membership has value.

With a newly established lower rate for student members (the same cost of attending one webinar as a nonmember) ISSCR benefits are even more accessible. If you have not renewed your ISSCR membership yet, there is no better time than today to ensure you can take advantage of all 2023 has to offer!
